Raised in rural Pennsylvania by a British Military family, Evelyn Freja
(frēy-uh) is a freelance photographic artist based in NYC 📍 Through her photographs she documents the essence of soft, yet powerful moments and portraits while incorporating deliberate use of color and light. Femininity and nature are recurring themes in her personal work.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Trade & Marketing as well as an Associate's degree in Photography. Her past roles include working at HGTV Magazine as an art and style assistant, The International Center of Photography as a black and white darkroom technician and teacher’s assistant, and an archiving intern at The Richard Avedon Foundation, among other positions.
Her work has been exhibited internationally most recently at Spring Studios in Milan and throughout Berlin, Vienna, and New York.
A member of Connected Archives, her photos have been syndicated world-wide for different publications and editorial campaigns.
In 2022, she was honored with the AI-AP award for one of her images documenting backing female vocalists and dancers in the music video industry. In 2023, she attended the Eddie Adams Workshop for emerging photojournalists. She has photographed for The History Channel, J. Crew, HP, The New York Times, TIME, Rolling Stone, NPR, and more.
